PIKE COUNTY VOLUNTEER TASK FORCE - A SALUTE TO VOLUNTEERS
Did you know that there are thousands of people in Pike County who volunteer their time to help their neighbors?
Did you know that there are hundreds of local organizations, agencies and groups that rely on these volunteers
to help them deliver help and services?
This is why the Commissioners of Pike County, in concert with the United Way of Pike County and the Pike County
Volunteer Task Force, will be issuing a proclamation at their April 13th meeting acknowledging the celebration
in Pike County of National Volunteer Week - April
17-23. This proclamation will recognize the importance
of Pike County volunteers and to thank them and offer gratitude for their significant contributions that make our
local area a much better place for families to visit, live and work.
Many volunteers will be wearing commemorative red ribbons during the week of April 17-23rd - National Volunteer
Week. When you see them, please say hello and offer your thanks. A Pike County Volunteer Honor Roll listing the
names of every volunteer we were able to identify will be presented to the Pike County Commissioners at their April
20th meeting and publicly displayed throughout Pike County.
The Pike County Volunteer Task Force, an initiative of United Way of Pike County, is dedicated to bringing together
organizations that need volunteers and people who are looking for a meaningful volunteer experience. If you are
looking for volunteer opportunities, please visit our volunteer information table at the Pear Blossom Festival
on Saturday, April 23rd in Milford. You can also go to our information and referral website www.PikePAHelp.org
and click on volunteers needed. If you are an organization looking for volunteers, post your listing on the website.
You can also get further information by calling Pike United Way at 1-888-306-6963 or 570-296-9980, email uwpc@ptd.net or visit our website at www.unitedwaypike.org. |
